Ladies and gentleman February is Heart Month. Studies have shown that women who are active a few times a week have a lower risk of heart disease, stroke and blood clots. The number one killer of women is heart disease as one in three die from it. Or stated differently, 1 in 42 million in the USA have heart disease. We can do some things to change this by getting cardiovascular exercise.
Running may not be your exercise of choice, but getting some type of cardiovascular activity is very important. Whether you run, walk, swim, or crawl, do it for at least twenty minutes today. Don’t let the cold weather stop you either. You can do indoor group exercise, hot yoga, or spin to get your blood flowing!
You can find more information about heart disease on the Center for Disease Control Site. Of course visiting your family doctor and seeking the advice of a medical professional is always advised before starting any workout program.
Cheers to a healthy heart.
