The impact of unsightly nail fungus
Nail fungus is a chronic condition that impacts your quality of life causing toenail pain, embarrassment, and can even lead to more serious health problems for patients with diabetes or immune disorders.
Nail fungus is difficult because the infection is under and inside of the nail, which makes it hard for some products to reach and destroy the infection. Products such as medicated nail polish or oral medications may be associated with side effects or serious drug interactions. Home remedies such as using bleach, vinegar, mouthwash, or household cleaners to resolve the problem are often tried but, ultimately, fail to resolve it.

Dr. Muronda is glad to announce that we offer the best toenail fungus treatment yet, the PinPointe™ Footlaser™. This great laser treatment for chronic toenail fungus has become one of the easiest and most effective ways to treat this unsightly disease.
Dr. Muronda has seen great improvements on her patient’s nails that have been treated with the PinPointe™ FootLaser™.
The PinPointe™ FootLaser™ is a great new treatment for toenail fungal infections that has become widely accepted in the community and now has FDA clearance. It kills the fungus that lives in and under the toenail. The laser light passes through the toenail without causing damage to the nail or the surrounding skin. However, the toenail will not become instantly clear, for it takes time to grow out.
Nail infection is a complex problem because it can start in some people because of family history of susceptibility, increasing age, poor health, nail trauma, climate (warm, moist), exposure to infected nails (sports/fitness and communal bathing areas), and tight shoes.
The PinPointe™ FootLaser™ sends invisible laser energy into and through the nail and/or surrounding skin that is absorbed by the pigment in the fungal organisms. When the laser light is absorbed it causes the pigment in the organisms to heat and this heat damages or kills the fungal organisms. If all of the fungal organisms are killed, your toenail could grow out normally. Treatment of all of your nails will usually take about 30 minutes. Most patients only feel warmth during treatment and the laser treatment can be reduced or ended if the procedure becomes uncomfortable.
The PinPointe FootLaser provides your doctor with a new, safe and effective treatment for nail infection. In a clinical study, 85% of patients experienced sustained improvement in clear nail at 12 months.
Please come with bare toenails free of toenail polish, laquer, gel polish, or any type of medications or lotions on your toenails or feet. Bring a clean pair of cotton white socks and clean shoes to wear after the procedure.
During the procedure, the pathogens that cause toenail fungus are targeted, allowing the new nail to grow healthy and clear. Unlike some medication-driven treatments for toenail fungus, the laser presents no side effects, and it is a great alternative for many patients who cannot or do not want to take oral medications. It is completely safe with no pain.
Most people feel no pain. Some people may feel a warming sensation and very few feel a pinprick.
No. The PinPointe™ laser treats patients in a single session and can resume normal activity immediately after.
The impulse laser procedure takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
The Pinpointe laser procedure takes approximately 15 minutes for one foot and 30 minutes for two feet.
Clinical studies to date reveal that over 85% of treated patients for toenail fungal infections show significant improvement after one treatment.
Credit cards and cash are accepted. You may also use Health Savings or Flexible Spending Account. The fee for this procedure is $750. It is $400 for one foot and $350 for the second foot. We do not laser single nails as clinical evidence shows that adjacent toenails often have been contaminated by fungus as well.
At this time there is no insurance company that covers the Pinpointe Laser Procedure because it is considered to be aesthetic. The office visit (consultation) portion is billed to your insurance and a copay may apply. However, if you have a Health Savings Account or the like, 100% of the cost can be covered.
