Keryflex Nail
Restoration

KeryFlex is a safe, nonsystemic in-office application that restores the appearance of patient’s natural nails. The product allows the podiatrist to remodel patients’ nails affected by fungus, nail dystrophies and trauma. The patented resin creates a flexible, non-porous nail that allows the remaining natural nails to grow.

The KeryFlex nail provides a natural looking nail during oral anti-fungal therapies,  immediate cosmetic improvement to compliment laser fungal treatments, or can be used as a stand alone solution. The KeryFlex nail is durable and unaffected by acetone, nail polishes or detergents, and does not contain acids like acrylic which can bind to and damage the nail bed.
KeryFlex Nail Restoration should not be used on individuals with peripheral vascular disease, arterial insufficiency, peripheral neuropathy, suspicious pigmented lesions on the nail or in-grown toenails. It should be avoided in patients who are pregnant, nursing or known to be sensitive or allergic to any of its ingredients. Learn more

Frequently Asked Questions

To help your KeryFlex™ restoration bond properly and last as long as possible, please arrive with clean, bare nails.

Before Your Appointment

Please make sure your feet and toenails are free of:

  • Nail polish
  • Gel polish
  • Acrylic or artificial nail products
  • Cuticle oil
  • Foot lotion or creams
  • Body oils
  • Heavy moisturizers
  • Powder or residue
  • Why does this matter?

KeryFlex™ is a medical-grade nail restoration resin that needs a clean, dry nail surface to properly adhere. Oils, lotions, polish, or residue can interfere with bonding and may cause lifting, premature separation, or a shorter-lasting result.

KeryFlex™ Nail Restoration is deferred during pregnancy and while breastfeeding/nursing. The manufacturer recommends avoiding KeryFlex™ during pregnancy and while nursing.

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, are actively trying to become pregnant, or are currently breastfeeding, please let Dr. Muronda know before treatment.

Yes. Please remove all nail polish before your visit. If polish or product is still present, it may limit what can be done that day or require additional prep time.

Please avoid applying lotion, oil, or cream to your feet and toes on the day of your appointment. Clean, dry skin and nails are best.

That is exactly what we evaluate during your visit. If needed, Dr. Muronda may perform medical nail preparation, thinning, shaping, or debridement before the KeryFlex™ application so the restoration has the best possible foundation.

Please note: Advanced nail preparation or debridement is not included in the standard KeryFlex™ application fee and may require an additional charge depending on the condition, thickness, and number of nails involved.

Some nails require more clinical time and skill before the resin can be applied properly. Thickened, lifted, damaged, or heavily distorted nails may need careful reduction, smoothing, shaping, or removal of excess nail debris to create a stable surface for restoration.

This extra preparation helps improve the appearance, comfort, and bonding of the KeryFlex™ nail.

Your appointment may be delayed, modified, or rescheduled depending on how much product is present. Proper preparation is important because KeryFlex™ adhesion depends on a clean nail surface.

Luxe Sole™ Reminder

For the best result, please come with bare, clean, dry toenails — no polish, no oils, no lotion.

Advanced nail preparation, if needed, is billed separately. This allows us to create the most beautiful and durable KeryFlex™ restoration possible.

Most applications last 6–8 weeks on toenails, depending on your activity level and how quickly your nails grow. A simple in-office touch-up maintains the look.

Yes. KeryFlex can be used in combination with antifungal treatments. While it doesn’t cure fungus, it covers damaged nails cosmetically while medical therapy works beneath.

KeryFlex is safe for most patients, including those with diabetes. However, it may not be recommended for patients with severe peripheral vascular disease or certain active infections. Your doctor will evaluate your eligibility.

Unlike acrylics, which can damage natural nails and trap fungus, KeryFlex is flexible, medical-grade, and non-porous. It’s designed specifically for compromised nails and applied in a sterile medical environment.

Yes. You can apply and remove nail polish just as you would on a natural nail without damaging the KeryFlex nail.

Absolutely. KeryFlex nails are available in natural tones and are shaped to look realistic. Most patients say no one can tell the difference.

No

Not usually. KeryFlex™ is designed to restore the shape and structure of damaged or partially missing nails. The resin itself is translucent, so it does not completely hide natural nail pigmentation or dark discoloration underneath.

If your nail has benign hyperpigmentation or natural dark coloration, it will often remain visible through the KeryFlex™ overlay. Patients seeking to completely conceal nail color may achieve greater cosmetic coverage with traditional nail polish, which is more opaque.

During your consultation, Dr. Muronda will determine whether KeryFlex™ is appropriate for your specific nail concerns and discuss realistic expectations before treatment.

It depends.

KeryFlex™ is intended to restore nails that have lost structure, such as nails that are:

  • Partially missing
  • Broken
  • Split
  • Thickened with areas of loss
  • Damaged after trauma or fungal disease

If your nail plate is already full and intact, there may be little or no benefit to adding a resin overlay. In fact, placing KeryFlex™ over a healthy, full-thickness nail can make the nail appear thicker rather than more natural.

Dr. Muronda will recommend KeryFlex™ only when it is likely to improve the nail’s appearance or function.

KeryFlex™ creates a more natural-looking nail by rebuilding missing or damaged portions of the nail. However, it does not change the color or health of the natural nail underneath, nor does it permanently correct underlying nail disease.

Every patient’s results depend on the amount of healthy nail available and the condition being treated.

When multiple nails are affected on the same foot, restoring all visible nails often creates a more balanced, natural appearance.

For patients with several damaged nails, treating all five toes on a foot can provide a more uniform cosmetic result than restoring only one or two nails. Dr. Muronda will discuss the option that best matches your goals and budget.

It is both.

KeryFlex™ is a medical-grade nail restoration system applied by a healthcare professional to improve the appearance of damaged nails while allowing the natural nail to continue growing underneath. It is not the same as acrylic nails, gel polish, or traditional salon products.

The goal is restoration—not camouflage.

That depends on your nail concerns.

If your nails are healthy but you simply wish to change their appearance, Dr. Muronda may recommend observation or other cosmetic options. If your nails have fungal disease, trauma, or structural damage, treatment may include medications, laser therapy, routine nail care, or KeryFlex™ when appropriate.

Every recommendation is individualized to provide the most natural and appropriate outcome.

Payment reserves dedicated treatment time and/or services specifically for you. Missed appointments, late arrivals, or insufficient time to complete a scheduled service do not qualify for a refund. When appropriate, the service may be rescheduled in accordance with our scheduling and cancellation policies.

  3. The KeryFlex nail restoration resin is carefully molded to create a natural-looking nail.

  4. The nail is cured using a special light to harden the material.

  5. The restored nail is shaped and polished to match the natural nail.
